Baccano OVA 3 (Finished)
Crest of the Stars ep. 7-9
Lupin III: Green vs Red

The next Summer Showing is this Saturday, August 21st we will be back in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435. As it is exam period on campus, we ask that any noise outside of the showing room be kept to a minimum. The schedule for the showing is,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup
2:10pm to 3:00pm : Toaru Kagaku no Railgun ep. 22, 23, and 24 (End)
3:00pm to 3:50pm : VOTOMS: The Heretic Saint OVA (End)
3:50pm to 4:00pm : Mini-Break
4:00pm to 6:00pm : Early Free Showing
6:00pm to 7:15pm : Break
7:15pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

After finishing Toaru Kagaku no Railgun we may show the DVD specials, this will be up to the discretion of the executives and be based on the demand from the audience. We are also going to try to finish VOTOMS as there are two episodes left.

During the 5:00pm to 6:00pm early free showing time slot, we will be continuing with the Japanese documentaries. Its part 2 of what we started last week, for those of you who were not here last Saturday, no worries about what you missed as the parts of this documentary can stand by themselves. During the late free showing, we going to finish Crest of the Stars, which has four episodes left and are going to be getting back to DMC.

This Saturday is the second to last showing for the 2009-2010 club year. We are planning to have the scheduled content finished this Saturday so that the last showing of summer and the year will be all free showing, the only title that we have been watching that will be present somewhere during the showing is the remaining episodes of DMC.

If you have not done so already please see the news below for the proposed 2010-2011 schedule. Sean is looking for feedback, which you can give either on the forums or at the showing.

See you on Saturday.

August 12th, 2010

Back before last Saturday’s showing the upcoming year’s schedule was posted on the forums, if you have not seen it yet the post can be accessed here. Please have a look over it and give some feedback, as Sean is curious about what most people think of the proposed schedule, feedback can be given either by replying to the above mentioned post or in person at the upcoming showings.

The proposed 2010-2011 schedule is,

Schedule A:
Tentai Senshi Sunred
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Kaicho wa Maid-sama
Shiki

Schedule B:
Katanagatari
Rose of Versailles
Senkou no Night Raid
Occult Academy

Of course during the upcoming year we will continue to have weekly showings with rotating schedules, the first half of the schedule is the above mentioned content, the latter half will be a weekly movie and free showing.

See you on Saturday.

Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge ep. 5
Baccano OVA 2
Crest of the Stars ep. 4-6
Cyborg 009 Movie
Rainbow ep. 1

The schedule also had a few last minute changes; Aim for the Ace was skipped and only one episode of VOTOMS was shown.

The next Summer Showing is this Saturday, August 14th we will be back in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435. The schedule for the showing is,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup
2:10pm to 3:00pm : Toaru Kagaku no Railgun ep. 20 and 21
3:00pm to 3:50pm : VOTOMS: The Heretic Saint OVA

4:00pm to 6:00pm : Early Free Showing
6:00pm to 7:15pm : Break
7:15pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

You may have noticed Aim for the Ace is no longer in the schedule that is because from here on it will be shown when there are episodes available. Should the series not be finished by the end of the summer showings you will have to ask Sean for the additional episodes and have a spare USB key as we will be trying to avoid having any spill over from the summer into the new free showing that will start in the fall.

This week we are going to be starting up the Japanese documentaries during the early free showing, as long as I can get there before 5:00pm. The documentaries are not about Anime, they are about Japanese history, culture, and places.

See you on Saturday.

4:20pm to 6:00pm : Bakemonogatari
6:00pm to 7:15pm : Break
7:15pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

The VOTOMS OVAs may start up this week and continue for the rest of summer, this decision rests with Sean so if you want to watch them or not talk to him. This week in the early free showing period, we are going to finish Bakemonogatari, so if want to watch the last of that series make sure you arrive before 4:20pm.

As everyone will be in attendance this week the late free showing content is back on schedule, which means Crest of the Stars (3 or 4 episodes), DMC, the Baccano OVAs, and possibly One Outs. As this week is rather full, the Japanese documentaries will most likely start up at the August 14th showing.

So everyone can mark their calendars the room bookings for August have us in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 for the entire month. There may be an issue with the August 21st booking as that date is exams on campus, if anything changes I will make sure everyone is updated as soon as possible.

See you on Saturday.

Since VOTOMS ends this week that means there will be more early free showing time opening up for the August showings, or there has been talk about showing some of the VOTOMS OVAs until the end of summer so if you’d like to watch them or not talk to Sean. Since Aim for the Ace has been skipped on a number of occasions, it will be shown when an episode is ready with the intent to have it finished by the end of August, if it is not it may make its way in the free showing time of the coming year.

This week in the late free showing period there is still plans to continue with Crest of the Stars (3 or 4 episodes), DMC, and the Baccano OVAs. Since we have more free showing time opening up, we are going to start to show some Japanese documentaries in the coming weeks. Since some of our members will not be present this Saturday, the current free showing plans might be put on hold for a week.

Sean informed me last night at the Strategy Club meeting that since Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari final episode has not yet been released we’re going to be doing Railgun this week instead, so hopefully the final episode of Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari will be released soon. The schedule below has been updated to reflect the change.

Hope you all enjoy Canada Day and its festivities and we’ll see you on Saturday.

6:00pm to 7:15pm : Break
7:15pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

Because its exam period we do ask that the noise level be kept to a minimum in the hallways. According to the information I have the only exam taking place around us is in SP 435 from 2:00pm to roughly 5:00pm. So you can easily find which room we are in please see this map. It is possible that later in the evening during the break period, we may move back to SP 435 so check SP 412 first and if we aren’t there we’ll be back in the usual location.

As I recently found out the O-Train will be out of commission from July 12th to August 14th for more details please see the Ottawa Citizens article. As bus routes will be added I don’t think this will have much of an impact on club operations besides those who normally take the train will have to look up the new bus route schedules. Thanks to Paul Y. for forwarding this information.

See you on Saturday.

Now that Durarara is bi-weekly until it ends and Kimi ni Todoke has ended we have an early free block in the schedule that’s bi-weekly until the end of Durarara. This early free showing block will have mainstream shows placed in it, at the moment there is talk about K-ON!! and Night Raid. At the moment since more members show up over the break period we’re going to try and keep the more “interesting” free showing content for the later block since more people will be around to see it and anything people miss in the early block will be easy to come by.

Because no one has expressed any interest in seeing about alternatives for food during the showing unless there is a real interest from members within the next few weeks I'll take it as everyone is fine with what they’re doing now. With the eateries on campus being closed and in general the food on campus being pricier, I’m debating whether we should start up a food fund and/or potluck to have food available at the showing. If these options interest you or if you have another idea please let me know. To discuss this idea or if you have any suggestions please visit this forum topic.

See you on Saturday.

During last Saturday’s movie and free showing periods we showed,

Angel Beats! ep. 7
Lupin III: Napoleon's Dictionary
Please Save My Earth ep. 5
Tatami Galaxy ep. 4
Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san OVA

There were some changes to the main schedule they were, Aim for the Ace was skipped and Kimi ni Todoke had three episodes shown.

Since Anime North is next weekend there will be no showing since a number of members and executives will be going down to it. The next Summer Showing is in two weeks’ time on Saturday, June 5th we will be back in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 from 1:30pm to 11:00pm. The schedule for the showing is,

3:00pm to 3:50pm : VOTOMS ep. 33 and 34
3:50pm to 4:12pm : Aim for the Ace ep. 15
4:12pm to 4:20pm : Mini-Break

Keep an eye on the schedule as the break may be shortened back down to an hour. I’ll keep you advised of this with a post here when a final decision is made.

With the eateries on campus being closed and in general the food on campus being more pricey I’m debating whether we should start up a food fund and/or potluck to have food available at the showing. As a reminder there is no showing on May 29th as most of our members and executives will be heading down to Anime North.

Because the eateries on campus have weird hours and some are not open at all we are still going to advise you if you want something to eat during the evening to bring food and drink with you, it will save you trip off campus and money since most of the food on campus is overpriced anyway. The break is still an hour and fifteen minutes for anyone who wants to run off campus.

3:50pm to 4:12pm : Aim for the Ace ep. 14
4:12pm to 4:20pm : Mini-Break
4:20pm to 5:10pm : Kimi ni Todoke ep. 20 and 21

6:00pm to 7:15pm : Break
7:30pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

It has been decided that the break will be an hour and fifteen minutes in length, the extra fifteen minutes are in case anyone runs off campus to get something to eat since the various eateries around campus are going to have odd hours for the time being. We are still going to advise you to bring your own food to the showings at least until the summer hours for the campus eateries are posted, besides it will likely save a trip off campus and some cash.

See you on Saturday.

April 26th, 2010

The first official Summer Showing is this Saturday, May 1st we'll be in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 from 1:30pm to 11:00pm. The schedule for this Saturday's Summer Showing will be,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup
2:10pm to 3:00pm : Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari ep. 9
3:00pm to 3:50pm : VOTOMS ep. 23 and 24
3:50pm to 4:12pm : Aim for the Ace ep. 13
4:12pm to 4:20pm : Mini-Break
4:20pm to 5:10pm : Natsu no Arashi! ep. 12 and 13 (Season 1 Ends)
5:10pm to 6:00pm : Durarara ep. 13 and 14
6:00pm to 7:30pm : Break
7:30pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

The break is an hour and half long for the time being because it’s unknown what eateries will be open and from what times. The break is likely go back to being an hour after we find out what places on campus are open and when. Because of the uncertainty about places to eat we do advise that you bring food with you for the time being if you feel like having something to eat during the evening.

The summer schedule has a gradual increasing amount of free showing time so be sure to bring in options for us to show otherwise you’re going to be stuck watching what we have access to. The free showing time expands a great deal later in the summer as we finish the main shows so you do have some time to think about what you’d like to bring in. We do have “fixed” shows for the free showing period(s) with the goal to get them done by the end of summer. The schedule for summer as well as the “fixed” shows will be posted later; all the dates have already been put on the calendar on the Events page.

The summer schedule is going every Saturday except the Anime North weekend so make your out to a showing and enjoy an afternoon and evening of Anime.

See you on Saturday.

April 5th, 2010

Its been decided that the showings will get extended over April's exam period. At present we're aiming to have them on Saturdays with a start time of 3:00pm. Currently I'm just waiting to hear back on the booking requests so check back around mid week for any updates.

The website will be getting updated within the next few weeks so if you have any suggestions please let me know either at a showing or by email. The update will be more about appearance then features but feel free to suggest any and I'll see what I can do. At moment from one suggestion the text area will be switched to a light colour with the text returning to black.

Depending on whether we have showings in the coming weeks (depends on room bookings) we'll also be figuring out club executives for the 2010-2011 year. So if your interested stay tuned for more information.

Anime@Carleton is pleased to announce Damasu-Con.

Damasu-Con promises to be a fun convention for any Anime fan young or old. It will be held on August 13th-15th with pre-reg opening on May 1st. We'll be focusing on classic convention activities but will have some surprising new events that have never been done before. This con has been in the planning stages since spring 2009 and we already have a number of guests lined up with more on the way.

So make sure you visit the website and mark the dates on your calendar because this will be one Anime Convention you won't want to miss!

See you on Saturday for the A@C showing.

5:40pm to 6:30pm : Early Free Showing
6:30pm to 7:30pm : Break
7:30pm to END : Movie(s) and Late Free Showing

Its being discussed whether we extend the showings through the April exam period. If we are unable to get a room booking for Saturdays it will most likely mean going to Sunday instead for the duration of the April exam period. This is still being discussed and a decision will be made this Saturday, so we want to know how many people will be coming out if there is showings during the April exam period and if we are unable to do them on Saturdays whether Sundays would work.

Another year has gone by and its time for the website to get refreshed. Over the next two weeks or so I'll be looking for any suggestions that concern the website. This update to the site will be more about appearance, but if you have ideas for features that you want to see I'll see what I can do. I'll be announcing this at this week's showing but if your unable to attend and still have input please feel free to email the club.

With the winter-term almost over we're discussing whether or not we should expand the showings throughout the April exam period. This would mean the showings would most likely be on Sundays throughout April since there are no exams held on campus at that time. If Sunday showings were held it would also likely mean the schedule would be changed so we don't go as late as usual. There is some time to think about it but we'd like to know whether anyone would be coming out on a Sunday during April's exam period. This will be brought up at the two remaining scheduled showings for discussion.

See you on Saturday for Buried Treasures of Anime.

During last Saturday’s movie and free showing period we showed,

Blue Literature ep. 7 and 8
Butt Attack Punisher Girl ep. 1 and 2
Golgo13 ep. 2
Trapeze ep. 5
Tytania ep. 2

It was also decided to watch an additional episode of Umineko so the storyline wasn’t left hanging, so we’ve completed 21 episodes.

The club would like to officially apologize for showing Butt Attack Punisher Girl last week, we were completely unaware that it would go as far as it did and will be more proactive in the future to avoid content of a similar nature. Because of this it has been decided that Dance in the Vampire Bund will be dropped from the schedule.

Seeing as we have an open slot in the schedule now there will be a vote held for one of four series to go in. The choices will be between Sora no Woto, Baka to Test to Shokanju, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, and Natsu no Arashi!.

The next showing is this Saturday, January 23rd we’ll be in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 from 1:30pm to 11:00pm. The schedule for this Saturday is,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup

3:00pm to 4:00pm : Aim for the Ace ep. 1 and 2
4:00pm to 4:10pm : Mini-Break
4:10pm to 5:00pm : Open Slot
5:00pm to 5:50pm : Durarara ep. 1 and 2
5:50pm to 7:00pm : Break
7:00pm to END : Movie(s) and Free Showing

There may be a surprise at this week’s showing for those who attend. If by chance it doesn’t happen this week it will be happening at the next showing. Either way you won’t want to miss it.

Because of all the recent developments in the Ottawa Anime community you may have some questions that haven’t been answered yet, please feel free to ask either Dave or me during the break at the showing.

See you on Saturday.

During last Saturday’s movie and free showing period we showed,

Babil II ep4
Golgo 13 ep1
Lupin III: Bye Bye Liberty Crisis
Trapeze ep4
Trigun ep1

Last Saturday’s schedule had some last minute alternations they were, finishing up Mouryou no Hako instead of viewing the single episode of Bakemonogatari. And for the open slot where the decision of what to show was still pending we showed Aoi Bungaku 9 and 10.

The results of the General Meeting were,

1. Amendment to Fansub policy was passed.
2. Old to New Content Ratio will remain roughly the same as it was in the fall. This was really to decide what to do about this term with a choice between Sora no Oto and Aim for the Ace.

So with the decisions of the General Meeting the winter schedule for Schedule A will be,

Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari
Aim for the Ace
Dance in the Vampire Bund
Durarara

And for Schedule B see below.

The next showing is this Saturday, January 16th we’ll be in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 from 1:30pm to 11:00pm. The schedule for this Saturday is,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup
2:10pm to 3:00pm : Lupin III ep. 13 and 14
3:00pm to 4:00pm : VOTOMS ep. 12 and 13
4:00pm to 4:10pm : Mini-Break
4:10pm to 5:00pm : Kimi ni Todoke ep. 6 and 7
5:00pm to 5:50pm : Umineko ep. 19 and 20
5:50pm to 7:00pm : Break
7:00pm to END : Movie(s) and Free Showing

See you on Saturday.

January 4th, 2010

The holidays are now over and it’s back to the normal grid. The First Showing of the Winter-term is this Saturday, January 9th we’ll be in St. Patrick’s (SP) 435 from 1:30pm to 11:00pm. In addition to the showing there will also be a General Club Meeting that will be taking place at 5:55pm. The schedule for this Saturday is,

1:30pm to 2:10pm : Setup
2:10pm to 3:00pm : Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari ep. 1
3:00pm to 4:00pm : Pending Decision / Episodes to be Released
4:00pm to 4:10pm : Mini-Break
4:10pm to 5:00pm : Bakemonogatari ep. 13
5:00pm to 5:50pm : Mouryou no Hako ep. 10, 11, and 12
5:50pm to 7:00pm : General Meeting and Break
7:00pm to END : Movie(s) and Free Showing

Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari a spin-off to the Tenchi series is a new addition the schedule for the winter; the episodes are 50 minutes each and are released on a monthly basis. The 3-4pm slot will either be filled with Aim for the Ace (a classic Anime series from the late 1970s) or Sora no Oto, however for the time being an OVA will be occupying that time slot. Bakemonogatari will be replaced with Dance in the Vampire Bund starting on January 23rd.

The General Meeting is being held to discuss some things of importance that have come to light. The General Meeting is open only to club members. The agenda will be,

1. Amendment to Permanent Policy concerning Fansubs
-Rewording to allow showing of fansubbed series that have been picked up by Crunchyroll, but still maintain a "ban" on the showing of licensed for DVD series.
-A vote must take place where the vote must have 2/3 of the Executives and the majority of the General Members who are present in order for the amendment to pass.

2. Old to New Content Ratio
-What would club members rather watch, new content or old content, and to what extent (this does not mean the schedule will change to reflect all or most of the preferred content, it’s only to give us a guide when we, the Executives, are creating the schedules)
-During the fall-term the ratio was 50:50
-For the winter-term it’s shifting more towards new content

3. Future Club Executives
-Within the coming years the club will need new Executives in order to continue to operate.
-The club will need dedicated members to step forward to become the new Executives.

4. Other Business
-If any club members wish to add anything or make suggestions/comments

Please be advised that since there is a vote happening it is recommended as many club members be present as possible to ensure the vote reflects the club as a whole.

See you on Saturday.
