Only two showing left for the 2011-2012 Club Year, we start the 2012-2013 Club Year on September 8th, which means a completely new schedule.
Over the past week, the club’s social presence has received an update. The club now has a Facebook Page, a Twitter Feed, and a Steam Group. More details are below.
It has come to the club’s attention that members would like to have another club sushi dinner. As we’d like to hold something in the next couple of weeks the planning for this one will be going faster compared to the previous. If you’re interested in attending please send an email to me as soon as possible to express your interest, another thing to include in that email is whether you mind your email address being visible to others. To all those who attended the previous dinner, I’ll be sending out an email to you in the next few days.

Are you a gamer, more specifically a PC gamer? Do you want to game with people you know and share at least a few interests with? Then join Anime@Carleton on Steam. Yes, the club now has a Steam group. You can access the group here, A@C’s Steam Group. Be advised that in order to join the group you’ll need to have a Steam account. If you don’t already have an account, they are easy to create and free. To create an account visit the main Steam website, up at the top of the page you will see a login button and a green button that says install Steam, either of these options work but since Steam is a client you’ll get the most use out if it if you install it.

Facebook
The Facebook group is no longer going to be used, instead we now have a page, A@C’s Page on Facebook. This was done primarily because Facebook changed groups. For those of you who do not have Facebook accounts the content of the page should be visible if you click on the link.
Twitter
Yes, the club now has Twitter. I figured I’d go nuts and add that social network into the club as well. Currently the plan is to have the Twitter account for important announcements only (i.e. major notices and last minute updates). You can access the feed here, A@C’s Twitter Feed. Twitter feeds are visible to anyone and everyone even if you don’t have a Twitter account.

We hope you enjoyed the two speical movies, Re-Birthday (May 5th) and The Glass Rabbit (May 12th). The two movies were provided by Eleven Arts. These two films are not available on DVD in North America and can typically only be seen at film festivals. If there is enough interest to see them again at some later date we may screen them again.
As a few members have expressed interest in going out for dinner those plans will be worked on over the next week or two. The plan for dinner (or lunch if people prefer) is to go out to a sushi buffet between Monday to Thursday in the next couple of weeks or so. Over the next week or two, we’re going to confirm how many people are interested and start to work on the plan (i.e. time and place). Most if not all of the planning for this will done via email or on the forums, so please send an email or visit the post on the forums to confirming your interest.
For the next three showings we will be showing something special in the movie slot. All I’ll say about it is, the content won’t be for everyone as it is an M rated title.

Re-Birthday [Special Movie]
A few last minute changes to the schedule were, three episodes of Nisemonogatari to finish it off, two episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and Lupin III: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna was skipped due to room lighting. On that last note, I’ll be trying to get us a different room for the next showing as sunlight caused too much washout on the projector.
Something that the executives have been discussing is going out to dinner at some point. We’d like to know if any club members would be interested in doing this. My thoughts were to have something in the next couple of weeks and if there is enough interest to plan more later in the summer. The thought is to go out to a sushi buffet between Monday and Thursday. If you are interested in something like this, please let us know at the upcoming showing.

We’ve come to the end of another fall/winter-term, starting May 5th we’ll be going into the summer showings. The current schedule will continue until the current series finish. As most of you are aware the summer season for the campus brings limited services such as what eateries are open, it is advised that you pick something up on your way into the campus or make sure you’re aware of the hours of the various eateries around campus.

Missed an Episode or Showing
If you missed last week’s showing and don’t want to be stumped figuring out the storylines you can request to get what you missed. In order to make this request make sure you have a USB key or external hard drive with adequate free space and speak with Sean at the showing. Any requests for missed episodes or entire showings can be made either during the main break or at the tail end of the showing. These requests primarily cover the scheduled content portion of the showings as movies and free showing content are often DVDs and things people brought in, we will do what we can you get you caught up as best we can.
Please keep in mind that this will only be done to a point, the more content you miss means longer file transfer times and larger space requirements.
Club Membership
Since a few people have been asking about club membership I will quickly go over club membership here. Membership with the club is free, but in order to be considered a member of the club your signature must appear on the membership list. Once your name appears on the list you’re a member of the club for the rest of the club year, i.e. until the end of August 2012. The reason we have a club membership list is that it is required when the club re-certifies with CUSA, i.e. it shows the club has student members. In addition to being part of the re-certification process club events are for members only, even though you can come out and see what the club is like before you sign up you’ll be asked to sign the list if you continue to come out and haven’t signed up after a while.
