2004-2005 Archive

July 17/2005

There's been a small change of plans and we're decided to go with an off-the-shelf discussion board.

All of its graphics are customizable though and its user-permission system allows us to maintain our original intentions by allowing guests to post comments without having to register. (Members have access to additional forums).

I've been using invisionfree boards for over a year and they are pleasant to use. The ads are barely noticeable and we can remove them if the club wants to.

After some difficulties the discussion board is back up though at the moment is read-only.

Again, email me at [Nick’s email was here] if you want to get in touch with me.

I'm going to attempt to revamp some parts of this website in php so if you have some suggestions (i.e. for the discussion board update) please post them. To the people who volunteered for exec position for next year please email us at [old club email here] (or me at [Nick’s email was here]) so I can add you to the exec mailing list (also the exec page if you'd like to be added now).

Sorry for the delay in the update, but… here’s your update.

First, the schedule for the winter semester is up in the events section. As you can see, we are having are first showing of the term this Friday starting at 5:30pm in 5050MC (the same place and time as last semester). If you only got a fall membership last semester, or if you are new to the club, you can get your winter semester membership cards on Friday. They will be $5.00, like last semester; and for an extra dollar, you can get it laminated.

Second, on Wednesday, we will have a table set up for C&S days. If you want to ask me a question, I will be there for most of the day if not one of the other execs. Hopefully, we will also have everything set up so that you can get your winter membership at the table; check the discussion board for more details.

Third, we are, most likely, going to have another Cosplay Social at the end of the month, if not the beginning of the next. We should have more information for you on Friday.

Hope to see you on Wednesday or Friday… mostly Friday.

Hey everyone, just a few things to announce before Friday's showing.

Discount at The Comic Book Shoppe: Once again, membership will entitle you to a 10% discount at The Comic Book Shoppe 2 (the one on Bank). The discount won't be in effect until about Friday, and I'll explain the full details at that time.

Change in Schedule: Unfortunately, my copy of Martian Successor Nadesico has been misplaced. What this means is that, beside I need to be better organized, unless someone has a usable version (.avi or DVD) of it, we will be switching to a different series to show during its time slot. The two chooses will be either Fruits Basket or Infinite Ryvius and will be decided by vote on Friday.

Cosplay Contest: During the showing on October 29, we will be holding a Cosplay Contest. The contest is open to any A@C member and the winner will be chosen by popular vote of non-participating members.

See You Friday,

~Chris

Since this Friday is the first 'official' A@C event of the year a membership will be required for admission to the event. You can purchase your membership card at the door; $5 for a fall pass or $10 for a full-year pass.

The events section has been updated with 3 showing schedules. I've also added a Fall FAQ to the club FAQ section.

Hello everyone. I have a few bits of news to cover today. First, it seems that we are having a bit of problems receiving e-mail through exec@carleton.ottawa-anime.org. So, for the time being, I suggest you use the discussion board on the right. I will be checking it at least once a day.

Second. As part Ottawa Anime OR-G we will be holding 2 more showings this month. (Yes, there was a showing already; no, you didn't miss much.) This Friday we will be holding the "Friday Fantasy Showing" and next week will be the "WTF? Showing". These 2 showings are free to any current Carleton U student (with valid ID card), but they will require an Ottawa Anime OR-G membership for anyone else. The schedules will be up by tomorrow; if not on the events page, they will be on the discussion board.

Hope to see you at are next meeting.
